    Hi everybody,

Four business days ago we found out that Myspace will be discontinuing their support for games. We immediately launched into several planning sessions and have been meeting daily since then. Because we've tried to keep our community updated with the evolution of our plans and you guys have been so excellent in giving helpful feedback and being patient, our original outline has changed quite a bit. Here are a few new updates that have come out of our recent brainstorm:

We have started sending out emails notifying players about the impending closure of games on Myspace. These will be sent out to Myspace players with links to the offsite version over the next few days so if you don't get one immediately, don't fret! This is mainly to notify players who haven't been playing the games recently; if you've already registered for the offsite you can ignore this email.

The next bit of news is that we have submitted Pirate Clan and Viking Clan to Kongregate, so we should see those games up on that network by week's end!

And the last thing I have to tell you is the most important. One of the most frequent requests we've been getting through feedback from the forums and support is a one-to-one transfer of your account on Myspace to a different service. To this end, we'd like to announce that the Myspace offsite, which was originally intended as a temporary measure, will now be supported long term by Kano/Apps. What this means is that when you register with the Kano Play Myspace portal you will get to keep your stats, items, allies, rivals and all that good stuff from Myspace and continuing playing your games. While this will only be originally available to current Myspace players, it is very likely that we will be opening this up to new players in the future. The benefits of this is that we will no longer have to use Myspace's ageing and unreliable server structure, so players should see an increase in performance in several areas. We're moving on this very quickly internally and we're hoping to have it up and running in the next few days!

We're very excited to share these new developments with you, and it was all made possible by your feedback and positive attitude as we tackle this unexpected turn of events. Seriously, you guys rock! As always, please keep checking back on the forums for further updates. If you have any questions about your email address or are having trouble updating it through the in-game banner, feel free to contact Support. :)

So, quick summary: emails will be sent out to Myspace players soon with the information contained above, Pirate Clan and Viking Clan should be on Kongregate in the next few days, and Myspace players will be able to transfer their accounts to the Kano Play Myspace portal and keep playing there!

Hey Mitch. what is this legacy Myspace player that you spoke of? And the Myspace offsite, can you say how long this site will house us players.

We're the Legacy players being the last of the myspace players before it closes, and they intend to house us on the off-site version indefinitely.

    Sorry Kano but that's a swing...and a miss!

@OEJ Legacy just meant players who had played on Myspace. We've changed the wording to "current" to be more clear. And as I mentioned in the post, the Kanoplay Myspace version is a long-term solution that we will be in full control of, and will ultimately be a much more positive environment for the games than Myspace. :)

@SS0 Can you be more specific about why you don't think this is a good solution?

One of the most common fears players have expressed to us is that they might lose their game stats/progress, and the Kanoplay version both addresses those fears and allows the game to continue on a more stable and responsive environment.

    Shafted yes, we have been.

I'm actually quite mad about :-/ I've been telling people for days to calm and be patient "Kano, will do right by us"
I feel like an idiot now.

Just to iterate to players, from a technical and players standpoint playing off of kanoplay will be a better experience over MS for a couple reasons:

    - improved game performance, requests will be coming directly to our servers and not routed through MS Proxy servers. Players experiencing lag on MS was usually being introduced from Proxy Servers

    - no more big overlapping ads on MS, we were never paid nor in control of those ads so when they impacted the player experience there was nothing we could do about it, kanoplay has no ads

    - new invite code sharing to grow your alliances

    - only solution where players are able to bring over 100% of their current alliance, stats, items, character builds etc

Considering all the options on the table, this seemed like the best immediate migration solution that would satisfy the majority of requests that we have been getting from players (1:1 transfer, not on FB or Kong, want to keep same alliance / rivals)

@Survival Streak 0 - to reiterate WonderBread's question, Can you be more specific about why you don't think this is a good solution?

Adding to Kano Play may even give us the opportunity to grow the game to be bigger than what it was on MySpace.

I'd love to, unfortunately I'm going to leave it a bit before doing so though. I've sent a little list of my concerns to Smack, maybe he'll share with you :)

More people need to read this and come to their own conclusion before go into cynical mode.

    Peace

I am happy with keeping things the way they are,my biggest worry was losing everything. Appreciate all of your hard work , ty. Say i had already sent my info to be transferred to kong. Can that change ? I would prefer to stay on the off site portal. Will there be an option once we login to that portal to change it ???

This will definitely give us the ability to do some pretty cool things that we weren't able to with MS.

That was merely a survey to let us know if people had preferences, it was not deterministic of where you would go.

All you have to do, is make sure we have an up to date email of yours and that you click the link in the header and create a password that we can associate with your email for login credentials at Kano Play.

  14. I just want to say THANK YOU to the kano staff for their hard work and diligence in TRYING to come to a workable solution for the mess they had LITERALLY dumped in their laps. And bigd, I am sure that they will once again give us the option of choosing as they were not the ones that decided to pull this stunt, but they are the ones that have worked EXTREMELY hard at correcting it. After all, we are the consumers of their services, and they want to try to keep us all as happy as they possibly can.

  15. oh, and I like the invite code for kong ... and the free world chat is GREAT ... would be nice to see that on any and ALL sites that kano uses

nice work. . .i wonder why the negative responses. . .I wonder .... will it be difficult to attract new players to this "mob wars" branch seeing as how your not pulling from a social network.... I just hope it isnt a case of cutting off a branch and trying to keep it alive..for it will surely wither and die eventually.. i guess we will have to wait and see..i sort of liked the idea of going to kong.. iwonder why we couldnt transfer there with full stats...

oh well i guess we get to be the cutting edge. . the pioneers venturing into uncharted territories .. kano should however continue to think about packages or options in the events that this does fail..im down for giving it a shot...Kano put on ur thinking caps though..and discuss ideas and options on getting new players to this Kano play that would really take everything to a whole new level... maybe even offer other games as well from the site. . play mob wars and another game maybe poker with your mobbies while ur waiting on hitlists. .heck if ur getting forced by myspace into it. . why not knock it out of the park. .

casino game like black jack or slots that we could bet Godfathers maybe...i dont know with this crew though. . that might not be a good idea... people would lose and cry unfair... yeah...no godfather betting. but u can see where im sort of going with this...money..we could bet money..give people another way to get money for listing people..hmmmm.. might increase the listing as well...just thoughts here.. use what u want for free this time.. after this ideas are payable in Godfathers...

  19. I'm not sure why all the negativity either. From everything I read, it did seem that keeping one's account totally intact was the #1 concern. I think all the negative nancies should give it a chance.
