This applies to all games. With the Godfather Goals (and equivalent in each game) and the loot crate rewards from the goals, crafting has become pretty well obsolete. Even the top level items (Optimal in LCN) have less value than a free loot drop item. If Kano would like to retain crafting in the games and make it relevant to players, the following are some ideas: 1. Add crafting to mobile app 2. Increase A and D of elite and optimal items meaningfully. Doubling values of the crafted items is not out of question. 3. Create new level of item above optimal. The A and D per item should slot between the best loot item and the legendary items from crates. 4. Create new class of item that requires use of a loot item to build. A and D to be higher accordingly. Crafting should continue to never require use of item which must be purchased. These are just suggestions / ideas. I don't want Kano to divert resources from the main game need - extra cities/locations in all games. Based on levels of top players each game could probably use 3 new locations immediately with added locations quarterly.

The addition of loot cases has only compounded the crafting deficiencies. Building is crafting items is traditionally one of the featured if this type of game. However, If Kano won't update the values of the crafted items, it might be better to scrap crafying completely and put the resources into creating additional locations faster for each game
Crafting has been outdated for years. It won't be scrapped, but hoping for any improvements is wishful thinking. Just do raids.
